Selected Aspects in the Perception of Sustainability Values Among Religious Education Teaching Students

Abstrakt

Aim. The article describes the attitudes of students of religious education towards the values of sustainable development. It examines the degree of knowledge of these values and their practical reflection in the monitored group

Concept. We carried out a preliminary examination through interviews and a questionnaire. The questions focused on the knowledge of the values of sustainable development and ways of their interpretation by respondents.

Results. Students have adequate to poor knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They do not understand their connection with religious values and have no motivation to apply these values in their pedagogical practice.

Conclusion. It is appropriate to innovate curricula where future religious teachers are trained to strengthen education in the values of sustainability. It is necessary to support education aimed at understanding sustainable development as a key aspect of school education.

Cognitive value. Complementing curriculum content with sustainable development values creates support for social cohesion and inclusion, which is crucial for a sustainable society.

    He graduated with a degree in philosophy from the University of Bratislava. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Constantine the Philosopher Univesity in Nitra in the field of philosophy, with a focus on the philosophy of values. He is an associate professor in ethics and an adjunct professor in the field of pedagogical sciences. He is engaged in postmodern thinking and its application in pedagogy and didactics. He works at the Institute for the Research of Constantine and Methodius' Cultural Heritage, Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher Univesity in Nitra, where he is engaged in the preparation of future teachers of educational subjects. In its publishing activities, it interprets otherness in philosophical, religious, and pedagogical contexts.

    She completed her doctoral studies in ethics. He currently works as a young researcher at the Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. She deals with the issue of sustainable development values. She is actively working on a scientific project aimed at exploring the relationship between religiosity and sustainability values. The project focuses specifically on exploring the presence of sustainable development values in the value orientation of youth. She explores the possibilities of implementing sustainability values in the value portfolio of young people. She is also involved in the innovation of curricula and curricula with a focus on sustainable development values.

    He completed his postgraduate studies in Israel. He was Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Theology, and now he is Vice President of the Catholic University in Ruzomberok, responsible for international relations. Since 2023, he has served as bishop of the Spiš diocese. He specializes in biblical exegesis and works as a senior lecturer at the Department of History and Biblical Sciences at the Catholic University in Ružomberok, Slovakia. He is currently working on the project Social Work Based on moral values - innovation of the study program, where she is dedicated to finding new ways of educating future social workers with a focus on the values of sustainable development.
